Emiliano's Princess of 1999!

When Zadoc Angell and I were running the Episode Review Website back in 1999, we asked a few artists to contribute to a gallery section we were creating. The idea was to get some highly talented artists to depict our favorite Eternians and Etherians in their own unique styles. One of the first people we heard back from was now-famed Masters of the Universe comic artist extraordinaire Emiliano Santalucia! At the time he was heavily involved in running his awesome Masters of the Universe Unbound website, but he was kind enough to send us this astounding image of She-Ra!

A very nice piece of artwork – I’d never seen that before!

Somehow I can just imagine a She-Ra comic looking like that being published in the late 90s – what a missed opportunity!

This always has been, and always will be one of my favorite fan works ever of She-Ra.

Beautiful job on She-Ra's posture and flowing hair, as well as the shading on her skin (looks like she got a bit of a suntan!), "supermodel face," and the solid gold effects on her gear! Don't mess with The Princess Of Power, here ... Those Horde Troopers don't stand a chance!

What a masterpiece! First-rate artwork, Emiliano. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

This piece still holds up quite well as far as I'm concerned. Saw it years ago and love the coloring in it especially.
Would have liked seeing that gallery up on the ERW site.
Oh and if I remember correctly, Enza Fontana (co-penciller of MOTU Comics) had some issues with the skirt Emiliano gave She-Ra here. Would love to know the details some day about it though.

This is how they should have done She-Ra for the 200X cartoon. Looks great - would love to see the other "Rebels" done in a similar fashion!

I have always loved this piece since it was posted back in the day! I love the evil tone of the troopers and how she-ra looks so feminine yet so badass! I'm crushing on her as I type this!

I just love how strongly coloured this is, really brings the whole thing to life and makes it feel sort of 'real' (in as much as an illustration of a cartoon can be real!) Really vibrant, fantastic!

It's interesting that he used the see through skirt from the original action figure in his design. Very cool.

Always liked this image! Kind of hope we get a version of She-Ra like this in the MOTUC line.
