Dark Hope?

In the earliest developmental work on the She-Ra series the guardian of the Crystal Castle, Light Hope, had a less aspiring name, Dark Hope! Described as a "very mysterious being" and appearing only as "a pair of baleful red eyes, floating in a corridor of infinite darkness", it is understandable why they later decided to make the character more colorful and appealing. However Dark Hope was still referred to as such when the scripts were being written, and it appears to have been a change at the eleventh hour.

I for one, think that the 11th hour change to Light Hope was a good thing. Somehow the oxymoron of dark & hope just don't marry well. If it was the mysteriousness of the character that they wished to stress as in a god-force that is formless, sexless and shapeless then maybe Enigmatic Hope or Secret Hope would have sufficed. But truly, I think that the name of Light Hope was the best one.

That would have definitely been an oxymoron like Kevin mentioned for the character.

Really glad they changed it at the last minute. How many scripts refer to this though, James?

I really am glad he got changed to Light Hope at the last minute. Dark Hope does not sound like a name that would have fit in too well for the side of good.
