Stratos on Etheria?

Robert Lamb came up with numerous story ideas during his time working on She-Ra. One of many which unfortunately never saw the light of day was an untitled story that would've seen Stratos together with She-Ra, He-Man and Orko take on Vultak! One can only begin to imagine how much fun it would've been to see Stratos, who only made three appearances in He-Man's season two, show up in She-Ra in a prominent role. Read for yourself!

Howdy

Its a massive shame Stratos wasn't in that many He-Man epsiodes as he is an awesome character and it would have been cool if he was explored more :(

Too bad we never got the chance to see an episode like this. It would've been a great addition to the She-Ra series.

Excellent info James!

I've gotta go the other way - Stratos was always, to me at least, a pretty dull character, and while Vultak got a couple of funny lines in the Zoo Story, the episode itself was a wash, so this potential story has always been the dullest of the lot.

Sounds like an exciting an memorable episode to me ... For more possible amusement and character variety, add Delora, from He-Man's "Reign Of The Monster," working with the heroes and Hawk, from "Betrayal Of Stratos" working alongside Vultak! :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

As I recall, this premise was an attempt to address the problem of underused characters. Mattel pushed for more screen time of lesser selling toys.

I agree with Dave that Stratos hadn't been given the best lines or actions in past scripts. Had the premise gone to script stage I would have showcased the birdman rather than using him for a gag or two.

My personal push at the time was to expand and develop characters that other writers had neglected. I wanted to increase the breadth and depth of series.

Oh well, water under the bridge.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks for sharing this James. And thank you Robert for giving your comments too!

Stratos indeed could have used more exposure. I know atleast a certain fan with a "macca" in her name who would have appreciated more active Stratos in the episodes.
And pairing him up against Vultak sounds really fascinating!

I agree that would have been very interesting to see Stratos on Etheria! Above all (and as James says) after appearing only three times in season two He-man. I imagine fighting with Vultak or teaching Madamme Razz how to fly properly. However, and knowing the story, Stratos easily lose the ability to fly when moving away from Avion s egg.

I think seeing Stratos on Etheria would have been awesome--I always felt that Vultak was underused because he didn't really have a winged counterpart.

Stratos would have been too far removed from the Egg of Avion to be of any good on Etheria, I'm afraid...

Do you think they should have crossed over more characters to Princess of Power, perhaps even some semi-permanently?

It might have helped convincing the male MOTU audience to keep watching, I remember in my age group I recognised that it was still Filmation and still He-Man but a lot of kids didn't stick with it because it was a 'girls show', even with a badass like Hordak in it!
