Catra's Glamorous Cat.

The first episode of She-Ra's season two "One To Count On" features the debut of Catra's cat Clawdeen; an existing toy that had never been seen on the show. Filmation did a good job on bringing the character into the animated world, because the toy would never have made the transition; a giant cat with makeup and a beautiful curly mane. At least the artists created something to fear as Clawdeen looked like a match for Battle Cat. No facial make up and no curly mane, just an aggressive-looking evil cat. Surprisingly this was Clawdeen's only appearance, and I doubt that sales increased overnight.

Maybe Clawdeen was the victim of cosmetic testing on animals? That would explain his pink fur. Maybe his fur is the result of a tint job that went awry. Damn those villains in the Fright Zone!

I'd love to drop some DVD-related hints re. Clawdeen - but I'm going to keep everyone on the edge of their seats....! ;)

Yeah, good to see her/him/it in at least one appearance. Filmation did a great job with wettest-looking characters, Clawdeen being the best.

I never did work out why Catra even needed Clawdeen. It's not like she needed a big cat for transport like He-Man did because Catra could actually transform herself into a cat when she needed to - or was that only something that happened in the magicats episode? Also in the comics she actually has Storm as her transport so why the need for Clawdeen anyway unless it was that Catra needed a pet or familiar.

The sound department even gives the creature the same roaring sounds as Battlecat!

I get a charge out of the startling scene when Peekablue informs the other Rebels that Clawdeen is close by, then immediately, the big cat jumps out of nowhere and scares away all of the Rebels!

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Does anyone know for sure if Clawdeen is a HE or a SHE?

It's too obvious difference between the Clawdenn series and Mattel toy sold in the collection of She-ra. Anyway it is interesting as it showed in the series, much more furious, much more bestial. Personally I first had to Clwdeen in my collection of She-ra and then "discovered" in the second season of She-ra. What a surprise!

"One to Count On" is a terrific episode overall. I always seem to forget Clawdeen's appearance in it.

Quick look on the image you posted I immediatly thought about the Lion-model seen in "Colossor Awakes" (that was from Filmation's Tarzan-cartoon).
