...the madness...

J. Michael Straczynski is more commonly known for his He-Man and She-Ra characters spouting very clever or amusing dialogue. Obviously "Origin of the Sorceress" is his shining episode with lots of deep character defining moments. However I believe that Granamyr's haunting speech about war in the season two episode "Battle of the Dragons" is one of his best pieces of writing. A lot of praise has to go to John Erwin for acting out the dialogue with so much feeling...

For your listening pleasure, Granamyr's haunting speech...

This is one of many reasons why Granamyr is my favorite Filmation character.
This Dragon is awesome!

That was deep. Even his face looks sad. No one wants their people to die.

It really is a chilling and haunting scene. The background music really enhances the scene and sets the mood perfectly.

I also like how friendly Granamyr is to Orko, in this episode, compared to the way they interacted with one another in "Disappearing Dragons." Granamyr appears to be very easy-going in this episode compared to his previous appearances.

It was also shocking to learn that Granamyr was defeated by Morning Star's Ice Crystal, later on in the episode ... Even though we don't actually see Granamyr defeated, he was nowhere to be found, as he was actually suffering from a deep sleep within his fire pit. We've never seen Granamyr defeated or weakened before!

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless!

A great scene. I've always liked Granamyr and it's good they didn't over-use the character in the show.

His appearance in She-Ra episode was fantastic as well.
Can't wait for the MOTUC version of Granamyr-figure in 2012. :)
