Plains of Perpetua.

One of my favorite panning shots is featured in the He-Man season one episode "Song of Celice." Though unnamed in the actual episode this location is referred to in the script as the Plains of Perpetua, an area of Eternia mentioned in the Series Bible and numerous other Masters of the Universe canons. It is a beautifully painted panning shot, very mysterious looking, and I love how we can see the plains trail off into the distance. We only see the location once in the entire series, but personally I think it is so unforgettable, and was deserving of further appearances!

It's really cool! It doesn't even look like it's part of the Filmation\MOTU world.

The Ladybird Book "He-Man Meets the Beast"... definitely by far the best use of the Plains of Perpetua.

When the heroes are in the other world, nearing Zolt's castle, in "Orko's Missing Magic," I think there is one scene that looks similar to this background, but this setting is way more interesting to look at.

I get a kick out of what happenes next, in this scene from "Song of Celice," when Skeletor orders Beast-Man (In his very first scene in the episode) to delay the heroes ... He simply calls Beast-Man, "Beast," in this episode! What a way to introduce the villain! Also, when the "Giant Crawler" captures Man-At-Arms, we hear Man-At-Arms let out a grunt like Battlecat! It sounds most unusual! :)

Anyway, this is a place where I wouldn't mind going hiking, myself! However, there should be signs put up that say, "Don't Feed The Giant Crawlers!" :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Awesome of you to show this. You simply gotta show the actual painted background on your blog later on. ;)

Overall the panning shot is a striking one. I especially like all the greens used in it and the depth is simply amazing.
