Birthday Blog #4 - Orko to camera...

Hal Sutherland storyboarded He-Man's "The Ice Age Cometh" episode, and added some very nice touches; Orko acknowledges the audience on two occasions. The first time is when Philip is being attacked by Whiplash prompting Orko to comment to the audience that he thinks he needs "a little help here." The second time is when Prince Adam and Cringer run off to transform as Teela climbs up the mountain; Orko turns to the audience and waves as he flies upwards and out of shot.

On the first occasion, I believe that this is brand new, one-time-only animation used on Orko for the close-up. In the latter scenario, it's so comical to see how quickly Orko rises as he flaps his arms so rapidly! :)

The one other shot from this episode that gets a laugh out of me takes place after Teela tries to reason with the ice trolls, who don't cooperate, to which Orko responds with "I think that means 'No Dice'!" The extreme close-up of Orko just comes out of nowhere! :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Like I mentioned in a previous reply to your blog-post, this "breaking the 4th wall" is what I mostly remember of Orko from this episode.

The first time he does it I really like it but after that his comments and acknowledging the audience kinda gets old very fast.
