The season one
He-Man episode
"Colossor Awakes" features a wonderful panning shot within the first minute showcasing not only
Skeletor's newest ship the
Collector, but also the laboratory located in
Snake Mountain that we never saw enough of during the series. Skeletor's Collector is a sight that would become familiar to the entire audience throughout the series. This episode marks the first appearance of the ship, Skeletor indicating that he built it himself. Take note that the Collector, while a staple of the cartoon series, was never made into a toy because it was
Filmation's idea, rather than
Mattel's. In this episode the Collector proves to be an extremely powerful ship, but throughout the remainder of the series it would be just another form of transportation for Skeletor and his
Evil Warriors!

It's a shame that todays cartoons dont have such detailed backgrounds.
Collector is a magnificent ship, but in it's origin-episode, it still feels like a big flying ray-gun.
The design is really terrific, and I wished Mattel would made it into a toy.
This room looks like the parking garage of Snake Mountain, to me! :) Very impressive looking laboratory of Skeletor's, though.
"The Mystery Of Man-E-Faces" was another pretty good appearance for The Collector ... Even though the vehicle didn't feature the device that turned people into stone, in that episode, The Collector proved a very difficult challange for The Sorceress and all of the magic of Castle Grayskull, as the Sorceress tried in vain to ward off all of Skeletor's attacts, via The Collector!
Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

As you said, James, the lab at Snake Mountain never got enough screen time, and yet, it seemed as if the Evil Warriors were always concocting SOMETHING or another in there.
Man, the inside of my Snake Mountain never looked this cool! And indeed, the Collector would have made a jaw-droppingly cool toy.
