Dragoon from the
He-Man season one episode
"Dawn of Dragoon" is fondly remembered as the villainous ally of
Skeletor who takes control of
Trolla. What you may not know is that
Robby London's first draft of the pilot episode
"Diamond Ray of Disappearance" actually has Dragoon featured as one of Skeletor's
Evil Warriors! As the drafts flew by Dragoon was phased out in favor of
Mattel's Evil Warriors...

That sure is an interesting fact... you learn something new every day...
Interesting.
What else was changed from the first draft?
That is really interesting. I really liked Dragoon - he was a very memorable character. It would have been nice to see more of him!
That a pretty cool fact! Dargoon as one of the first of Skely's henchmen? Thats just awesome, too bad and totally understandable why they took him off.
In the earlier "Diamond Ray" script, was Dragoon taking the place of one of the characters who made it into the show? Or was he just pegged to be an additional character?
Well whodda thunkit? Very interesting :)
Now, THAT'S a surprise! :)
Wonder what Dragoon's introduction would have sounded like, had he been introduced the way Skeletor introduced each of his warriors at the beginning of the episode?
"Dragoon, Dragon of Darkness and Master of Fire ... Return to Snake Mountain with your Trollan magic-draining Megacore!" :)
Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

This would have been a really interesting addition for "Diamond Ray of Disappearance". Dragoon would definitely have stood out from the Evil Warriors right from the beginning and who knows, maybe even gained even more fandom around him.
In "Dawn of Dragoon" I almost always tend to forget the connection to Skeletor. It feels like a throwaway line because Trolla is such a remarkable place and Dragoon fits that place's villain-role.
