Intelligent Evil Personalities.

Issue twenty-one of the UK Masters of the Universe comic had a story titled "The Perfect Trap", in which the opening page summarized brilliantly just how differently the comic portrayed Two Bad and Webstor in comparison to their cartoon selves. Here we see Two Bad as an intelligent, creative genius, while Webstor is the problem-solving escape artist. A far cry from their less than intelligent appearances in the cartoon...

I loved the way the comic portrayed those characters. I always wished they could have been like that in the cartoon.

I missed that particular comic as a kid and only got hold of it the other year (indeed from yourself, so that scan is probably the very issue I now possess), but I was really impressed with that story and how it developed the character of Webstor as a mathematical genius. He was also great in the following issue, in "Puzzles of Peril" where he had to work together with He-Man.

Skeletor is kind of written out of character here, as well ... Usually, in the cartoon, he'd tell his henchmen to "get to work" immediately. Plus, whereas this version of Skeletor provides one of his warriors with the "materials he needs," the cartoon version was more of a "go figure it out for yourself" kind of guy! :)

The purple half of Two-Bad and Webstor are the candidates who look very much alike to their cartoon versions, here ... Webstor's expression is priceless!

Webstor appeared more crafty and intelligent in "The Cat And The Spider" than he did in his later appearances, so for me, that was his highlight episode ... I guess that's the closest similarity to the way he came across in this comic. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

I think I remember that story... was a transparent tube with electrified floor, and something else for the top.

The solution, far as I recall, was to basically kick the door open?

I never pictured Two Bad as an evil mechanic, but some of the machines he did in UK Comics were very interesting.

Never even understood his "Evil Strategist" tag-line on the toy-card because there were little to no examples of him actually doing anything strategist in mini-comics or elsewhere.

Webstor even in cartoon seemed more cunning. With the great voice by John Erwin and very memorable appearance in "The Cat and the Spider". :)
