Clawful in pain!

"Dree Elle's Return" is an odd episode. It has its good points, but it also has a lot of very bad points. For me personally the good points are strictly with regards to some of the amazing animation sequences which are predominantly Trollan based! One scene in particular is beautiful to behold as Clawful captures Orko and delves deep within his hat in an attempt to retrieve the Horn of Evil. These four images show some of the extreme points in this one sequence. The image of Clawful screaming is my favorite of the images; the power of his expression is fantastic! It is obvious from this scene that the animator put everything they had into making this some of the finest animation that Filmation had ever produced!

This animation is so fluid and comical! Come to think of it, I think this is all one-time only animation used for Clawful in this episode alone ... I don't remember seeing any stock animation from this episode used for Clawful's future appearances. For some strange reason, Clawful was illustrated a little more "cartoony" in this episode compared to all of the other episodes he was featured in. Even the reverb effect, used for his haunting voice, was only displayed in this episode.

On a little side note, when I watched "Double Trouble" on my copy of the final He-Man DVD set, I found it amusing that the Sand Crawler monsters from that episode have similar faces to Clawful (Especially as seen in these images), even though Clawful never appeared in that episode! :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Cartoony Clawful is wonderful. More Groovy Ghoulies than Mattel toy, but I can dig it. Besides, he's a ladies man.

This is a great piece of information. You should have made a video-clip entry for this blog-post about it.

But I'll take the screengrabs for now.
Clawful's expression is great as well as amusing at the same time! :D
