Happy Birthday He-Man #23 - Even the good guys...

To all its many critics, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe via the penmanship of Robby London offered "Double Edged Sword" as its reply. This episode features possibly the greatest moral segment in the entire He-Man and She-Ra series, a serious moral that is as good as the entire episode that precedes it. He-Man admits to the audience that his world is complete fantasy; a television adventure series that makes fighting seem like fun, never allowing the good guys to die, but that in real life people do get hurt, even killed, when they fight or use guns. This forcefully honest, unprecedented material had never been seen in a cartoon series. No other moment the history of He-Man formed a better rebuttal to the vicious critics who often denounced the series as a violent toy advert! Once again, the series proved that its moral weight was no pretense; it was real.

For your listening pleasure, Even the good guys...

Howdy

The best moral that I have heard that works perfectly with the ep :)

Moral messages like this one and the one from She-Ra's "Horde Prime Takes A Holiday" are among the greatest in the series and really hit their mark ... Well executed, He-Man, A.K.A. Robby London! :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Ah one of the finest morals from He-Man show. So awesome that you made sure people behind "I love 83" knew about this moral because it was so cool seeing them feature it.

Shame that there was so much other stuff you provided them, without any use on-screen.

There are a lot of fun moments from the series captured in these many audio clips, but it's nice to see this one in particular, that the people behind the show cared enough to explain to young or impressionable viewers the difference between pretend adventure, and real life use of something potentially a lot more dangerous. It'd be nice if shows stopped to do something similar today.
