Happy Birthday He-Man #9 - The controlling henchmen...

Here are two individual and yet very similar images of two of Skeletor's most trusted Evil Warriors, both performing the same act. In "Song of Celice" Beast Man uses his telepathic abilities to summon a large centipede creature, and in "Double Edged Sword" Mer-Man uses his telepathic abilities to summon a Spidasaur. It is obvious that the layout artist for "Double Edged Sword" reference the image of Beast Man as a guide for the actual animator.

Imagine if there was an episode featuring these two villains, side by side, using their combined powers to control a huge monster?! That's what these two images look like, when shown together!

The animation of Beast-Man laughing, that follows in the "Song Of Celice" episode, is just crazy and hilarious! As for Mer-Man, it's too bad that the animation on him wasn't reused in another episode, even if he were to use his powers in "Fraidy Cat" to send his fish men after Cringer and Orko. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Skeletor's original henchmen all had a special purpose. They were like the A-Team! Later addiditions were mostly used as enforcers and strong-men. I'm looking forward to watching some season 1 episodes again starring the original evil warrior line-up.

Wow Beast Man's waist looks really narrow in the first screengrab.

Awesome comparison of poses for the two Evil Warriors. If you find more animation comparisons please share them!
