Point Dread?

Yesterday was my last day as a full-time employee of Cheerful Scout, the DVD authoring house that in partnership with Contender were responsible in bringing He-Man to DVD! My first visit to Cheerful Scout occurred when Dave "Dagar" Newman and I recorded the Fan Commentaries for Volume One of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe way back in August 2003. Many visits and commentaries later I found myself working at Cheerful Scout from August 2004 onwards. But all good things must come to an end...It's time to go freelance! :)

And now, on with today's Blog...

The Talon Fighter sat upon Point Dread in the earliest Masters of the Universe canons, but this fact was sadly never referenced in the cartoon. However in "Orko's Favorite Uncle" we do see the Talon Fighter for the first and only time atop one of Castle Grayskull's turrets! He-Man had previously set the automatic pilot to land the Talon Fighter, hence its position. However we have to question whether or not this sequence is a nod to the toy...

In an episode with so few characters in it, it is a real treat to see the Talon Fighter featured in "Orko's Favorite Uncle." :)

Poor continutity in the episode, however, when He-Man sets the Talon Fighter's "automatic pilot" ... The vehicle is first suspended in air as He-Man jumps into the entrance of Castle Grayskull, but later on, the Talon Fighter is parked atop one of Castle Grayskull's towers!

He-Man's mysterious statement is odd, as well, when he states:
"Uh Oh! Time for the automatic pilot, and..."

Nice that the Talon Fighter reappears in the Season 2 episode, "The Cat And The Spider." :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

I think this sequence is "clearly" a nod to the toy line. I guess we just see the Point Dread twice in the series, and this time it is stand on the cime of the Castle. A good promotion ... I think! Thanks for posting!
