Weekend Away #8 - The cracked stone!

Here is an interesting panning shot I have assembled showing Adora holding aloft the Sword of Protection from the season one episode "The Stone in the Sword." This was of course one of two animated sequences in which Adora would raise her sword and call upon the honor of Grayskull, the other sequence would have her unsheathing the sword. In this image we can see Adora raising the sword with the cracked stone, preventing her from transforming into She-Ra, and creating the major story arc for this episode!

The background scenery is fantastic, with the blues from the trees of the Whispering Woods, as shown at night, and the rippled deep blue tones of the sky, similar to the dreary skies we see in He-Man episodes like "Fisto's Forest" and "The Ancient Mirror Of Avathar."

The voice acting for Adora, as she attempts to call upon the Honor of Grayskull, for this scene, is fantastic! You can hear the frustration in her voice as Adora states, "For The Honor of Grayskull," for the second time!

The direction of this panning shot, of Adora raising her sword, is similar to the one shown in "A Loss For Words," when Adora loses her voice and cannot change into She-Ra.

Another awesome shot from such a classic episode ... Way to go, James. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

This is a great episode and is the episode that got me into She-Ra whn I was just a fan of He-Man

When I first saw this episode, I actually gasped at the cracked stone, because we come to expect the transformation-sequence with religion, so any variation to it catches us with a suprise.

And what better suprise than Adora not being able to transform at all.

Also, never really noticed how the background-colors make Adora pop off the screen with her golden hair and bright red outfit. Love it. :)
