Weekend Away #9 - The Drachadon unleashed!

Here is a very memorable panning shot from the season one episode "Creatures From The Tar Swamp." I always liked the design of the Drachadon that the Evil Warriors raised from the Tar Swamp; he was believable and not an exaggerated Eternian creature. This image always reminds me of Skeletor's earliest plots against the people of Eternia, and his often forgotten efforts to overthrow the Royal Palace, instead of Castle Grayskull! Notice that Beast Man in this image has no cuffs...

Another impressive shot. An interesting thing about the appearance of the Drachadon is that, if you study the creature closely, the face looks more human, when shown from a frontal view, like in this image. From the side, however, the monster has a snout the length of a dog's, like a golden retriever. Also, the Drachadon appears smaller in size, in Act 2, especially during the scenes where He-Man and Battlecat confront the creature.

A wonderful job to the artists who created such an original looking monster in the He-Man series. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Beast Man must have been in a hurry to forget his cuffs there. Luckily he doesn't need them to control the Drachadon.

Always love the idea of Preternia and creatures from said times. Drachadon is an awesome design and I can imagine King Tamuks possibly having to deal with them creatures.

Never noticed the lack of wrist-cuffs on Beast Man. Thanks for pointing it out, James. :)

I just saw the spanish version and the Drachadon is never mentioned as such. They just refer to him as Monster.
