Mer-Man's Face?

Here is an odd one. In the 1987 UK Masters of the Universe annual we see two different versions of Mer-Man in the same story! On page twenty-two Mer-Man appears to look like the original toy version, but on page twenty-five he resembles the cartoon model sheet! What was going on in the artist's head?

I'd noticed that too. It's really noticeable here how the first image of Merman looks a lot more comical and less villainous, the second is the far more threatening version.

Perhaps the artist didnt had Mer-mans Filmations design when he started drawing the comic?

Must have been two of the same species who swopped places during the story to amuse the other characters! LOL :) The cartoon-like version is fantastic!

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

I like the second version far more, the first looks just... wrong. N

ow if he had been driven like the box art version (a la the MOTUC version), that would have been even cooler.

I had noticed too ! The changes in design and colors is amazed in many comics. Here at Argetina we detect the same errors with some Ledafilms magazines! Thanks for sharing!

Seeing mistakes like this so many times makes me wonder just how much was mattel changing looks and toys at the last minute. Or who was misinformed on using the right style. I love green skinned filmation mer-man!

I like the second one a lot more, I don't know if it's a familiarity thing but the first one just looks utterly weird to me!

Now that is very strange indeed. It looks like two completely different artists worked on the book.
