Tataran's Army (again)!

Here is another great panning shot from the He-Man season two episode "The Arena." As with the other panning shots that I showcased from this episode in an earlier Blog entry look out for the obvious join in this image. You can see where the artist has had to paint two separate backgrounds as one whole one. This image is a great piece of directing, as the forces of evil prepare their attack on the Royal Palace.

Such a great episode (and now one of my favorites after re-watching it in nice DVD quality this year). I never noticed the background extension, awesome information!

Fantastic! I think Filmation was ahead of it's time and when cartoons get good, again they'll say it's because they went back to the basics. Filmation could easily do circles around any cartoon, today! Their staging, direction, and stories were cinematic and done with Incredible skill.

Alos with Filmation they proved you don't need the big budgets of today's carttons to make a good show.

Love the direction of this panning shot ... Skeletor comes out of nowhere as the scene scrolls along, plus he looks more sinister between him and General Tataran, in this image!

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

This panshot is great for the colors and the depth the creatures and characters give.

Love the close-ups of Skeletor and Tataran.
