Timm Transformation!

There is no doubt that Bruce Timm's work on "The Search for Keldor" minicomic is possibly some of his best during his time on Masters of the Universe. These three panels show the unique transformation of Prince Adam into He-Man in front of Ninjor and Scare Glow. The illustration in the second panel is what I would like to bring to your attention. Not only do we see Bruce Timm's great use of shadows as the power of Grayskull reigns down, but the red cross highlighted amongst a largely silhouetted figure is a fantastic idea!

Reminds me of the transformation sequence in "New Adventures." :) Notice how the Sword of Power is held in the opposite hand, on this occasion. He-Man's heroic pose and expression are well illustrated in the final panel!

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

Great artwork... but I always found it dumb how Ninjor and Scare Glow don't get suspicious when Adam transforms right in front of them!

Hey, great great blog.
Masters of the universe were they toys of my childhood.
Now im grown up and i am an artist myself, making storyboards for a living but wishing to become a comic book artist.
I would KILL! to have a nice scan of Bruce Timm's Master of the Universe mini comics. I think they are amazing and are like i would like most comic books to look.
I'm talking about the one whether penciled or penciled and inked by Timm.

Thanks a lot for this post , i had never seen those 3 panels so clearly before.
Thanks and hi from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

That is cool! I see why you showed us this panel when discussing the 2nd cover idea for your MOTU guide. This might work as a alternative!

it's a very nice different way to fill up 3 vignettes and transform he man... even better to think that the power comes from within and originates from inside and its distribute by the red cross!!

another great post in this blog that has already (in Jan 2012) reached the 1250 post!
