Not Mermista!

Here is a rarely seen illustration from the 1986 Masters of the Universe annual showing He-Man talking to a Mermaid. What I think is quite striking about this image is that the female character is clearly naked. Traditionally when Mermaids were represented in this kind of medium they would have some sort of sea shell covering, just look at Mermista from the She-Ra series...

Reminds me of the painting, "The Birth of Venus," by Sandro Botticelli. :)

As they’re so much half nudity in the whole muscleman and sword and planet aspect of MOTU, I guess it was bound to happen at one time!
Pretty neat picture, thanks for posting!

It looks like He-Man is having a hard time not staring below her face.

Plus, his hair seems very long here.

Where do mergirls get shell bras, anyhow? Is there a K-mart unde rthe sea with a shell lingere department? And wouldn't such a garment be awfully uncomfortable? Do young mergirls use special little training shells? I got around this problem in a fairly imaginative way for my series: the mermaid has a swatch of torn canvas salvaged from a sunken ship tied about her shoulder to hide her breasts....

Really like this image. He-Man looks very nice in it!Just don't let Frosta see this! She would go crazy!

Now this is something you don't see too often in the world of MOTU. Very refreshing to see something like this, almost geared towards a more grown up audience.

When I was little I remember reading a "Masters of the Universe" graphic novel, which was really well illustrated, very detailed, nothing like the cheap comics you got with the toys.

In it, he-man went up a villain who wasn't skeletor but looked like him, but he had red armour & clothing. He-man defeated him in battle and actually cleaved his head in half, at which point the "red skeletor" crumbled and faded into dust. He-man then muttered "...his promises are dust in the wind..." (in reference to something red skeletor had said earlier).

Never found it on Google or anything since...

Would you know anything about this?
