Birthday Blog #6 - Volume twenty-two!

Often the covers to the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe video releases by Magic Window in the eighties were nothing to write home about! However with regards to the last five video releases Filmation illustrated some publicity stills that Magic Window sensibly used on their covers. I always thought that this cover to volume twenty-two was one of the strongest. Interestingly the cel of Webstor was actually used when he attacks Kittrina in "The Cat and the Spider".

Neato! This image has the color, detail, and quality of the original animation cel artwork! Never seen this box cover before, but this is definitely something to write home about. :)

Thanks for posting and reading! God Bless...

I first rented this tape in the early nineties never having seen or heard of any of the episodes on it. The selling point for me was seeing Webstor attacking He-Man so I didn't even wonder what episodes were on it! The extra added animation for the film in between was great seeing Skeletor banter w/ Evil Lyn and Beast Man. And seeing nods to the new class of KK, Webstor, Buzz-Off and Fisto to name a few really excited me!!

If He-Man would have been distributed by RCA Columbia Pictures International Video and Magic Window in the UK, it certanly would have gave She-Ra and Vestron a run for their money.

Yeah you certanly can't help but think of The Cat and The Spider when you see this cover.

At least this was better then a Video Collection cardboard case for the same episode that came with some pens and a colouring book, where He-Man is in his generic 'I Have The Power' pose and the case happend to be pink, just like the UK Volume 2 case....yeah I don't know why VCI were obsessed with pink, honestily. At least Dogtanian got away with an orange case for his tape, book and pen pack. :D

a very cool cover indeed and unusual to see Webstor on the front, you would have thought Beast Man would have been the favourite for that
