Laser-Light Prototype!

Sometimes when promoting their forthcoming Masters of the Universe toys Mattel would only have prototypes to show. As you can see here this prototype of Laser-Light Skeletor is vastly different to the look of the actual toy. Clearly an original Skeletor toy has been customized to function as Laser-Light Skeletor would, but the design of the toy had not yet been finalized. What I like about this image is that it almost looks like a fan's attempt to create a Laser-Light Skeletor figure!

The standouts for me include the soft material for the cape, as was the case for the vest to the Prince Adam action figure, and the glowing eyes! Still, nothing beats Skeletor's Havoc Staff, when it comes to sporting a weapon. :)

Thanks for reading! God Bless...

I really am glad this is not the version we ended up with. I love the new head sculpt on the official released one.

I personally would've been happy if that was the actual design. If it had been, it wouldn't appear that real LL Skeletor was almost retooled for NA Skeletor.

For me this was the in-between Skeletor from MOTU to New Adventures.... i never saw this fugure until 96 or 97 (when i got internet)...

That would have been so awsome to have as an action figure.I'll bet though it would have requiredthose small watch batteries to function properily, without giving the toy too much of a handicap in design.

I can imagine if this figure had a toy commercial, young boys would certanly try and scare young girls with this toy. :D

The He-Man equivelent should have had light up chest armour. The armour wouldn't have come off, but it didn't matter as that would have been the point of the whole toy. He could have had a translucent Swordof Powerthat couldhave fed off of the light generated by He-Man's light up chest. Hmm 'Lights of Justice; He-Man', dosen't sound like a bad name, but I guess someone can come up with a better one. ;)

I wonder how much this prototype would fetch since the actual final figure is worth so much! Great seeing the prototype

Sadly I wasn't collecting MOTU when he came out. The last figure I got was The Sorceress at KB Toys and she was marked down for clearance. Still wish I had my vintage MOTU stuff.
