Eternian War #1

"Warlord of Eternia" from the one-off Masters of the Universe Ladybird annual is a very unique story in that it focuses solely on the Evil Warriors, specifically Skeletor, Beast Man and Evil-Lyn. No He-Man in this story. The three villains end up in Eternia's past where they begin to wreak havoc. The beginning of the story features a large scale war between the hordes of Skeletor and the warriors from the Royal Palace. In this illustration by Robin Davies we see the heroes at the ready. There are many things to appreciate in this beautiful illustration. Firstly we see Man-At-Arms, along with the palace guards as seen in the Filmation series; beside them are the gray-suited palace guards as seen in the Ladybird book "Castle Grayskull Under Attack!", but most interestingly of all is another Man-At-Arms with a crown! Who can this be? And of course the flag the heroes are flying came with the Castle Grayskull play set!

I just want to say many thanks for all of the very kind comments made about the artwork that I produced for Ladybird all those years ago. :)

Great little article James. Thanks for sharing. I've never seen any of the Ladybird stuff in person so I rely on your blog for the old school 411 on everything Grayskull-related.

Very cool. Have only heard the audio cassette tape of this story. So seeing a pic of the book itself is great.

Thanks for sharing.

Check out the multiple Stridors! The Man-At-Arms "clone" looks like he's holding a weapon made of crystal! Amazing "sunset" scene. :)
Thanks for reading and God Bless!

Great picture! I guess the guy sporting the crown is King Randor himself, wearing the same armor as his soldiers and leading them into battle.

And loads of Stridors, interestingly enough...!

The only explanation I can think of for the MAA with the crown is that it's meant to be King Randor, and he's dressed in the same attire as MAA for battle, the sceptre he's holding definitely looks regal. But I guess only the artist knows...

How cool is this? I had that flag! And that figure, and that horse!

Wowzers! Robin Davies visits the Bustablog too! But now we still don't know it it's King Randor or not. I think it has to be, really. For it surely can't be Adam.
