Marvel Age He-Man #1

When Marvel's Star Comics imprint obtained the license to publish a Masters of the Universe comic, few could have predicted its turbulent thirteen-issue run. I think it is fair to say that the comic started off poorly, but ended with some of the best Masters of the Universe stories ever told. Before the series began Marvel Age ran this article about the forthcoming He-Man and the Masters of the Universe comic, featuring comments from those involved in working on it. Here are the first two pages of this enlightening article...

What I like about the article is that it mentions the Filmation cartoon. :) On the left panel, He-Man looks like he's about to kiss his own biceps, the way a cocky professional wrestler would do! His pose is fantastic on the right panel ... He-Man holds his sword out much like he did in the "Evilseed" episode, during the group-effort scene featuring Skeletor! I also get a kick out of the "Hanna Barbera" looking character with Orko. :) Great work!
Thanks for reading! God Bless!

He-Man's face is way too tiny on the cover!

So both Marvel and DC published MOTU comics? The Marvel art style used to blow my mind as a kid, still love it. He looks a but like the Marvel Lex Luger from the WCW comics there!

I have that issue of Marvel Age. I bought Marvel Age a couple of times as a kid only to be disappointed it wasn't a regular comic about the character on the cover.
