The Flying Sword #2

For your entertainment here is a story originally presented in the 1987 UK Masters of the Universe annual. The artist was Paul Green who worked on many an annual; and other pieces of licensed property. If you look carefully you will see that quite a few panels pay homage to the Masters of the Universe comics released by DC Comics many years earlier. Here are pages four to six of this colorful tale!

I loved the artwork in the 1987 annual. I thought the 1986 one had some pretty terrible art IMO, but the '87 one is a strong entry both in terms of art (very Filmation based) and story.

The original annual is still my favourite, for the prototype shots and because I'm a pre-Filmation nut, but after that, I think '87 may be my favourite MOTU annual.

Poor Teela with the snakes wrapped around her legs! He-Man must have been laughing to himself upon hearing Skeletor saying something like, "The witches said..." :) He-Man's closer is so corny, but it still makes for a hilarious little moment ... Group laughing shots, featuring our heroes, are always a winner, in my book!
Thanks for reading! God Bless!

Very cool artwork and I love the use of filmation style kobra kahn! He-Man fighting snakes is something I've always enjoyed seeing. Kind of a conan nod.

I love how they depict Kobra Khan with all those snakes around him. Looks very menacing!

That Duncan...nothing escapes his keen eyes! Seldom, if ever, has the evil master of snakes had a cooler pose.
