Ileena's expressions.

Ileena was a memorable character that appeared in the He-Man season one episode "A Friend in Need". I always like to think of her as an early precursor to She-Ra; even though her personality is nothing like She-Ra's. Here I present some interesting illustrations of the character by the artists at Filmation; these illustrations were given to the animators and artists so that they had a feel for her character. Interestingly you can see that they originally intended for her to have body armor all the way down to her skirt; and yet in the final produced episode they had this area illustrated and painted as bare skin!

The illustration in the middle is my favorite ... Has that Cinderella look. :)

I always liked Ileena. Not only was she very hot, but I think her bad experience in the episode taught me as a kid what drugs were truly about. He-Man managed to be educational without turning rethorical.

she looks like the warrior teela version from alacala's minicomics and a kind of viking cousin of she-ra.

Ow, that armour would have been uncomfortable if it had reached all the way down to there. Her headress is very Viking looking. I never really saw that Norse connection in She-Ra's costume before, but now that you mention it... Ileena was obviously not very muscular. That was the whole point of her story.
