Memories #12 - On the big screen!

In an effort to make a note of all my He-Man and She-Ra childhood memories I've decided that every once in a while I will make reference to them here! There is no particular order to these; just amusing little anecdotes from years gone by.

I have to say that one of my fondest memories of He-Man and She-Ra as a kid was going to see "The Secret of The Sword" on the big screen. I remember looking up at this huge screen and seeing the transformation sequence; it looked incredible! I also remember my mother saying that she really liked the music throughout the film; Haim Saban and Shuki Levy would be happy! I hope one day, through the magic of nostalgia or something, that I am able to see the movie on the big screen again...

One of my favorite moments was when the instrumentation that accompanied the very first He-Man transformation scene was changed ... It was the same tune and in the same key, but it was exciting to listen to something that sounded a little different. :) I was disappointed that Mer-Man wasn't a featured villain in the feature, as he was shown on the front page of the comic book for the movie. :( I see that both He-Man and Skeletor are illustrated "A Christmas Special" style, especially Skeletor, as shown here. :) Very pretty illustration of She-Ra, but I feel sorry for her as it looks like the green snake is about to bite her shoulder!
Thanks for reading! God Bless!

Ha! I was planning to make a small projection at an auditorium sometime next year, watching episodes on a projector must be awesome too. I think is understated the power of the she-ra theme, there's people here who barely remember the show but as soon as you name it, they humm the song by heart. In my case, as a musician, it kinda iniciated me into disco music and was defenetely a huge influence that comes out when I make my own music. I think is one of the less acknoledged world hits in history. prase Shuki and Haim! ( wish I knew exactly what kind of synth they used for the arrpeggio parts in the song, it sounds like the one Prince used in the song Lemon Crush for the Batman 89 OST)

Too bad I didn't get to see this movie on the silver screen.
In fact, I wonder if it was released out here in Belgium at all...

I always wondered about that menacing green snake. Was he supposed to represent evil? I thought that a face off between Evil Lyn and She-Ra was something Filmation missed out on.

What wonderful memories! I remember going to the cinema to see the Secret of the Sword. It was a great surprise to discover the story of the twins. At that time, my father went witn me and had many friends in the room. Every time He-man was transformed, all applauded happy! Thanks for sharing these memories!

Your old episode review site was when I finally realized that the secret of the sword was released theatrically! I felt so bummed to know that I missed out on such a great memory. : (

So that's where Braveworld got their VHS cover from (though edited from this poster) and this is where VCI got their (even more edited then the Braveworld version) VHS cover from. It's a georgeous looking poster. I'll bet going to see this is like when my dad took me to see Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie 10 years later and has at least two of the same people involved. ;)

Your Mum actually liked the music, that's really cool to hear, honestily I'm genuingly impressed. :)
