The odd thing about the final stages of this story is that some of the writing blatantly contradicts itself. He-Man had kept on throughout the story about how they needed to recover the equipment to change Dragstor back, then when Mer-Man destroys it, He-Man is pleased about it, stating Mer-Man is doing the job for him and denying he wanted to use it? And then when he's back on the surface he expresses regret that the equipment was destroyed as it means they can't change Dragstor back. It's bizarre how He-Man's objectives just change suddenly on that one panel and then go back to how they were before... Mer-Man did beat He-Man as He-Man did want to use the equipment.

But that one bit of poor writing doesn't stop this from remaining one of the best ever stories in the UK comic on the whole. If the cartoon could have got round to featuring these later characters like Extendar and Dragstor and making them as strong in background and character as the UK comics did, it would have been a much stronger show. The UK comics did a great job with Snout Spout's origin too; that's another story worth posting. Hats off to London Editions for coming up with such great MOTU stories!

The expressions on Mer-Man's sea creatures are classic! I like how the image of the hourglass, in the second panel, brings each of the sections together. :)
Thanks for reading! God Bless!
