"Droid of Destruction" #2

Here are the remaining three pages of "Droid of Destruction" a very memorable story from issue seven of the UK Masters of the Universe comic. It is worth mentioning that Prince Adam carries a rock with him so that when captured by Hordak's droid he is able to strike the Sword of Power against stone and become He-Man. I have mentioned on the Blog before how the early UK comics and UK annuals stated that striking the sword against stone was the only way in which the transformation could take place!

Good to read this story again! Hordak pretty much sealed the fate of his plan by telling He-Man the droid was attached to his brainwave pattern, he may have stood a chance of winning otherwise! When will the villains learn that expositional dialogue gets them nowhere! :)

I kind of like the idea that Adam can also change to He-Man by striking his sword against a rock. It makes sense that there would be an alternative way for him to transform if he's in a situation where he can't speak the transformation phrase out loud for risk of being heard.

This story also gives a good explanation for why He-Man must keep his double identity secret even from his allies, as his secret can be effective in defeating evil in itself. The UK comics certainly tackled some interesting issues in their early days, this story is a great example! :)

Amusing how the villain always seems to "spill the beans" to the hero's advantage, the way Hordak did in the opening panel. :) The Droid reminds me of Belletron (S.P?), from the "Disappearing Dragons" episode! Powerful and important dialogue from He-Man at the conclusion of this story, too! Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)
