Dragoon dies?!

As hard as this is to believe, originally at the end of "Dawn of Dragoon", the villain was supposed to "die" by falling into the Bottomless Hole of Trolla. Amazingly, this scene was storyboarded, and I know for a fact that it was animated, too, having seen cels from the sequence over the years! This scene was hurriedly reboarded and subsequently animated before the episode aired! The scene in the completed episode where He-Man manages to save Dragoon compliments the values of He-Man and the show itself.

The last few illustrations of Dragoon falling remind me of Yaug (S.P?), from "Song of Celice" falling down a hole that He-Man created! Good thing that you provided fans with this information, James, because I thought that I saw an animated cell of Dragoon falling past He-Man on one of the He-Man fan sites, years ago ... This was probably the case, because I looked and looked and could never find the animation in the actual episode! Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)

It's interesting to think what the tone of this episode might have been like (and what fans' memories of it would have been) if Dragoon had actually died. MOTU tended to shield its young viewers from death wherever possible (a fact I was grateful for as a kid), which makes the existence of "The Problem With Power" even more surprising! :)

Wow that would've been a shocking ending!
I like this version more than the onw we got though.
It would've been a better ending for the epsiode.

That the one thing about cartoons from the 80's-- no one gets hurt and no one dies. They didn't give kids enough credit that they know that this was make believe. I wish they would have left the original scene, but I give them alot of credit for creating the cels even if they didn't air.

I wonder who decided to have He-man save Dragoon. It was a good choice. It made the show resonate with values. That is one reason that made the show stand out from other shows.

Geez!! I can't believe this storyboard actually went into production! Man I love Dawn of Dragoon and that is just awesome that they had went as far to make the episode more graphic!

Just knowing they had planned on that makes me appreciate this episode even more! I think just once Filmation shoud've pulled the trigger.

I know for fact in Dragon's Gift, we only see one ice hacker fall into the snow. The one He-Man throws off the cliff, we don't see where he falls, so I can assume that at least one character did meet their demise...just once.
