He-Man's oddest appearance...

Out of all of He-Man's appearances in all of the various Masters of the Universe canons, this appearance in the Golden Book "The Trap" has to be one of the oddest. Clearly the artist has looked to the toy for the design of He-Man's head, but his familiar armor is illustrated to look like braces that tuck into his belt! This book is worth investing in, if only to see one of the oddest appearances of the most powerful man in the universe! I am not going to even mention Stratos' crazy beard...

Totally agree about He-Man, James ... His face looks like "Aqua Man." :) Stratos reminds me of Moss-Man, with that beard! Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)

It's actually disappointing that that image even passed quality control - does the book say who the artist is? :)

As a child this was argueably the one book I was always so curious about, b/c the cover looked so amazing and intriguing to me...and was so disappointing when I finally bought about 5 years ago and saw how ridiculous the art looked! The art looked like it had been drawn by a 5th grader, which wouldve been quite good if it had been. He-Man was drawn the worst. The story itself didn't bother me. Norems cover makes up for it!! : D

Man, that looks ugly. But so did some of the mini-comics. Well, you can´t win them all ;)

When I look at this picture again, stratos looks almost as strange as he-man does. His beard looks more like a batch of his feathers were taped to his face. The man deserves better treatment in illustrations. Still the cover is the crown jewel of this story.

Lol, the art in this book had a lot of different looks thrown in the mix. Like you point out, He-man's vest and Stratos's beard. It is interesting how each artist has a different take and style when they portray the Most Powerful Man in the Universe.

Im sorry but when i look at Stratos all i can think is Brian Blessed! Some drawings work and some dont, this one doesnt work for me sadly!

That's not He-Man, it's Suspender-Man. And I'm not really sure if that's the real Stratos either. Possibly an entire story filled with imposters.

I hadn't even noticed his braces! He looks to me a lot like a WWF Just Toys Bend-Em from the mid-late 90's.

I always liked the covers of these books though. They were always so life-like. Was just even more of a disappointment when you opened the cover and looked inside...
