Here is a dramatic and striking storyboard panel by
Steve Hickner from season one
He-Man episode
"Dawn of Dragoon". I love the fact that both
Orko and
Dree Elle are dwarfed by
Dragoon who looms over them from the edge of the rock face! When this episode was translated to screen, even though Dragoon was redesigned, the director managed to make this shot look equally as dramatic...

Been a long time since I saw the episode, but I believe that it was a straight-on view there, while this sketch provides a nice overhead view. Very atmospheric and well rendered! Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)
I'm actually shocked by how much different "storyboard Dragoon" looks to "completed Dragoon" - this design is much more dramatic, I wonder why they changed it?? :)
...And, did the Dark One from She-Ra's "Into The Dark Dimension" look like Dragoon in the storyboards from the start?? :)
Oooh, very nice! Though I still prefer his final design, Dragoon looks far more menacing here, very demonic. I wouldn't mind Mattel producing a figure of him with both heads!
No that is the size of Dragoon I want from Matty. You can see how menacing he will be. Thanks
Kelly
I agree that the animation on film was done very well. The size of Dragoon from the Trollans, added a sense of danger and terror to the story.
Man this Dragoon is such a fright, Orko & Dree-Elle might have lost their face coverings right there and then with fright!
Can you quit going on about Dawn of Dragoon just for a little while, for Pete's sake? Hehe. I already mentioned a couple of times that it was on my watch list yesterday, but my dvd was too scratched to play it. Now you're just teasing me!
