Evilseed arrives!

Here is a beautiful piece of layout artwork from the episode "Evilseed" by the late great Fred Carrillo. This piece was illustrated to give the storyboard artists and director a sense of how the scene may play out. This scene was wonderfully directed in the episode, and this illustration is incredibly atmospheric.

I think this may be fanart. No inks, just pencils. So a very lazy fanart at best.

Wow! This could pass for a famous piece by a classical artist. :) Not a thing out of place, and I think that the artwork looks even more detailed than the cartoon version! The posture on both characters is great, too. :) Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)

You "think this may be fanart"? - Why are you not reading the post which explains that it was layout artwork for the season one episode "Evilseed"?! :)

Seeing this great image makes me wish this episode had been adapted for a comic book - with this guy as the artist! Especially given that "Evilseed" is one of my favourite episodes! :)

This is cool! It reminds me of an illustration from one of the early Led Zepplin albums. I like Evilseed a lot too.

scary. A lot of suspense and momentum in that image... I whish all that moodyness was layed down in the actual show, I guess it had quite a few restrictions for being a kid's show and all the "anti violence in cartoons" crap that was ruling at the time.

Nicely shows the mystery that surrounded Evilseed! When his face was shown, I was rather disappointed since I expected some badass-looking evil sorcerer.

This layout artwork is fantastic. I always loved the episode for Evilseed. I love seeing this behind the scenes art!

No offence to the finished show itself, but this art and style is so much nicer than the finished product. Just imagine what Filmation could have done with a larger budget.

This is fantastic. Something so simple really grabs your attention and Evilseed really resembles the Grim Reaper with his cloak etc. A fantastic piece!

One of the best-remembered lesser-characters. I remember at Uni I was 're-discovering' He-Man and one guy there vividly recalled Moss-Man and Evilseed above all other characters, so I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them.

I really like this one, although it's a shame it's not from a scene where Evilseed is seen in all his glory! As a side note, where on earth do you find all this stuff, James???
