A villainous moonlight stroll #2

Here is the second of three wonderfully atmospheric illustrations featuring Catra and Clawdeen from the story "The Lost River", which was featured in the rarely-seen four story She-Ra Ladybird compilation book. Artist Glenn Steward utilizes the color palette beautifully to create a striking nightime scene that is bathed in an eerie glow from the moonlight. Notice that only Catra and Clawdeen are given an outline, whereas the background is rendered with no visible outline. The composition of this piece is very nice, as Catra and Clawdeen begin to notice something wrong with the bridge. I like the way in which the bridge is illustrated somewhat heavier than the rock face in the background, once more creating an impressive sense of depth. It appears that Clawdeen has her main caught up in the rope of the bridge...

It's like those "bridge" scenes from the He-Man episodes, "Fraidy Cat" and "Not So Blind!" At least this time, the characters were able to escape before the bridge gave way. :) I like how the mountains have the same style as the Filmation backgrounds, plus I love the unique shades of blue for the evening sky! Catra reminds me of "Wonder Woman," in this illustration. :) Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)

Is that the Sorceress of Grayskull they're referring to there, or a different sorceress?

Very dark and cool looking scene. But something about Clawdeen's head just freaks me out. Looks so out of place.

Yeah there is something creepy about Clawdeen's face. I like this picture but not as much as the first one.

I don't know that I like seeing Catra look a little worried.

Catra is beautiful in that picture, not sinister looking at all. These pictures make me like Clawdeen, she seems loyal to Catra like BC is to He-Man and SW is to She-Ra. The throne looking saddle is cool too.
