Here I present a lovely illustration featuring
She-Ra and
Mermista from the story
"The Lost River", which was featured in the rarely-seen four story
She-Ra Ladybird compilation book. I love the fact that Mermista is portrayed combing her hair in stereotypical mermaid style! Again,
Glenn Steward creates a wonderful sense of depth by depicting the characters with an outline around them, leaving the background to be rendered in a more traditional style.

Interesting really that Mermista was one of the good girls. Mermaids traditionally lure sailors to their doom, so she would have made an awesome villain. Still love her as a good girl though, she's one of my favorite POP characters :)
Amazing job on the blue and purple ripples in the water and the same with the mountains, which look like the mountains used for the background settings in the He-Man series! :)
No one can possibly argue that the water in 'The Lost River' is beautifuly illastrated.
Despite the crude looking method, the wateris very well detailed, though the Ladybird books as a whole have their fair share of awsome illastrations.
Now this is what I call a great post! Love this picture. I liked the friendship between She-Ra and Mermista because there was always this sense of, "I need some information about this or that, Mermista will know!" lol Of course Mermista is my favorite so I am maybe just a tinsy winsy bit biased. lol
