FILMATION FEBRUARY - DAY: 28

"The Heart of A Giant" scene concept by Fred Carrillo

Throughout this month The Power and The Honor Foundation in conjunction with The He-Man and She-Ra Blog will be showcasing never-before-seen Filmation production artwork.

Although Fred Carrillo was a layout artist, his illustrations were unique in that they often summed up entire scenes, rather than breaking them down shot by shot. This created a feel for the episode, and gave the layout artists something beside the storyboards to look to when staging the individual shots. This piece of layout artwork by Carrillo, from the He-Man episode "The Heart of A Giant", sums up the scene in which The Keeper locates Cambro on his monitor.

Since I saw this character-model first used in "The Gamesman" as Lord Todd, I can't picture looking at the characters as any other. Personal experiences colour some of these characters in such a fun way. :D
Fred Carrillo's art again simply astounding. The whole february could have been Carrillo-goodness and I would have loved it.

The level at which a lot of fans and people posting here are all so familiar with the He-Man cartoon just floors me. You're true fans. I love an old show from my childhood, but I have to say a lot of you have made it a true hobby with the background information and research put into all the pieces that have been shown this month. Hats off not only to James for your blog man, but to everyone that's contributed some pretty noteworthy detail on anything shown over these last 28 days. I've gotten a huge amount of enjoyment from it all :D

Probably the most detailed image and it makes you want more.

Outstanding overhead shot and I really like the different angles to the sections on each side of the view screen! Once again, the detail is every bit as impressive as the interior of The Collector, from one of the recent posts. :)
