GIANT Picture Book (Heroic Warriors) illustration #25
Golden Book published a great deal of Masters of the Universe material during the eighties. Two of the most notable and yet rarely seen books are the Giant Picture Books; oversized quality publications printed on thick quality paper featuring artwork by Fred Carrillo. One book focused on the Heroic Warriors, whilst the other focused on the Evil Warriors. Here I present, from the Heroic Warriors book, the two pages focusing on Prince Adam and Cringer. In this particular illustration we see an incredibly relaxed Prince Adam, with Cringer chasing a bird. Notice that the book next to Prince Adam is called "Ancient Weapons of Eternia", which I would suspect is hinting that even though he is not a warrior in this image, he is always educating himself. The text is wonderful in that, much like a tour guide it specifically states that both Prince Adam and Cringer "can often be seen strolling the grounds of the palace or just napping under a shady tree".

These are all good points, and these illustrations pay the perfect tribute to the Filmation series ... The only thing I would have changed was Cringer chasing a butterfly instead of a bird! Also, the black and white image of both Prince Adam and Cringer reminds me of the scene where Cringer is happy to see Adam again in the "Reunions" part of "Secret of the sword." :) Thanks for reading and God Bless! ~"KevyGuy" :)
