Randor's best effort!

Here are some action-packed panels in sequence from the Masters of the Universe minicomic "Enter: Buzz-Saw Hordak!" by the superbly talented Bruce Timm! The sense of speed as King Randor approaches Hordak on his Jetsled is fantastic. I love the panel which shows Hordak standing there as King Randor and the Jetlsed do not survive the impact of crashing into Hordak! The final panel showing Hordak dragging King Randor along by the cape is memorable to say the least!

She-Ra script: "Reunions" #5

For your entertainment I present to you the rarely seen final script for "Reunions"; the fourth of the opening five part story introducing the She-Ra series. As with the "Into Etheria" script I showcased a month or two ago, reading this you will see a show that is still very much in development. Certain pieces of dialogue were either rewritten or removed during the actual production of the episode. You will also see some interesting notes about characters and locations during some of the scene directions. I will try to point out the more notable things during each post. Here are pages twenty-three to twenty-seven of the script. Queen Angella is proud of Glimmer...

Eternia's greatest hero!

I remember, as a child, being so amazed by the quality of artwork in the Masters of the Universe minicomics when Bruce Timm appeared on the scene. I lost count of how many times I would copy his panels in an attempt to replicate his fantastic artwork! This panel from "The Terror Claws Strike!" is a fine example of his work. The amount of detail in this single panel is fantastic to behold! We have He-Man standing victoriously atop the Laser Bolt, with Kind Randor honoring He-Man. Behind the king we can see Teela waving, and Man-At-Arms in the window. In the crowd itself there are so many different joyous emotions taking place. My favorite has to be the female looking lovingly at He-Man. Notice the one guy not celebrating at all, and looking rather sternly at He-Man!

Juggling Orko.

Steve Hickner was one of the original group of storyboard artists that worked on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Whilst his drawings were often simplistic, the expressions and physical comedy he would put into his boards were quite striking! In these few panels from "Dawn of Dragoon" we can see how he detailed Orko's movements as the Trollan starts to juggling whilst explaining where Trolla is located...

Clawdeen is trapped!

Robin Davies is one of my favorite artists to have ever tackled the He-Man and She-Ra brand. However, he was clearly given a less-than-accurate character model for Clawdeen! In the She-Ra Ladybird book "Spirit is kidnapped" Clawdeen no longer has a fabulous well-groomed mane, and merely looks like an overgrown pink cat!

Here are pages six to ten of the script. The dream sequence was supposed to be directly lifted from "Into Etheria" with reactions from the Sorceress and Man-At-Arms still in place...

Shadow Weaver by way of a pig...

"A Talent for Trouble" from She-Ra's season one features one of the most amusing visual gags to feature Shadow Weaver. Always a character shrouded in mystery and magic, it is amusing to see Shadow Weaver transformed into a rotund pig-like creature! One of the things that makes this model sheet so amusing is the pose of Shadow Weaver, with her hands on her hips as if she is far from amused!
