"The Third Sword" #10
Here I present the final two pages of "The Third Sword", an epic tale that appeared in the one-shot UK Twins of Power special. Even though the print quality is questionable, the story reaches a logical conclusion!

The Flying Sword #2
For your entertainment here is a story originally presented in the 1987 UK Masters of the Universe annual. The artist was Paul Green who worked on many an annual; and other pieces of licensed property. If you look carefully you will see that quite a few panels pay homage to the Masters of the Universe comics released by DC Comics many years earlier. Here are pages four to six of this colorful tale!

Broom design!
Here is an interesting piece of development artwork of Broom, as featured in the She-Ra Series Bible. Broom is one of the few characters that retained much of his early design. Of course in this illustration the character is much looser with regards to line art, but when adapted for the Filmation style he still had that fluidity that was a part of his character.

Orko's comic strip #3
Almost every issue of the UK Masters of the Universe comic featured an Orko comic strip on the inside front cover. As this Blog continues I will try and feature all of them for your amusement. Here I present the "Orko the Magician" comic strip from issue three. Orko tries to magic a bowl of milk for Cringer...

Evil-Lyn's vision.
The original Masters of the Universe card backs featured fantastic artwork of each of the characters released as action figures. This piece showcasing Evil-Lyn, as she spies on He-Man, was featured as a pin-up in issue sixty of the UK Masters of the Universe comic. I love the way in which Evil-Lyn is sat, as she focuses her magic through her wand.

Ileena's expressions.
Ileena was a memorable character that appeared in the He-Man season one episode "A Friend in Need". I always like to think of her as an early precursor to She-Ra; even though her personality is nothing like She-Ra's. Here I present some interesting illustrations of the character by the artists at Filmation; these illustrations were given to the animators and artists so that they had a feel for her character. Interestingly you can see that they originally intended for her to have body armor all the way down to her skirt; and yet in the final produced episode they had this area illustrated and painted as bare skin!

Almost every issue of the UK Masters of the Universe comic featured an Orko comic strip on the inside front cover. As this Blog continues I will try and feature all of them for your amusement. Here I present the "Orko the Magician" comic strip from issue forty-three. Orko's memory clearly needs improving...

Madame Razz and Broom design!
Here is an interesting piece of development artwork of Madame Razz and Broom, as featured in the She-Ra Series Bible. Even at this stage of development you can see where the characters were heading. Filmation character designers would then re-work these initial designs over and over again until the characters began to adapt to Filmation's style.

Adora changes back.
"Operation Whirlpool" from issue four of the UK Princess of Power comic features an interesting panel in which we see She-Ra transform back into Adora. However, it is presented very strangely with Adora seemingly walking along without drawing the sword and somehow able to just will the transformation. I leave you to draw your own conclusions...

Bow wins!
This illustration by Robin Davies from the She-Ra Ladybird book "Spirit is kidnapped" shows Bow looking very pleased with himself. What is of interest is that Adora seems to be showing a little more than a passing interest in Bow here. I like her hand on his arm...
